FLATULENCE

According to Ayurveda, when you have a lot of gas in your stomach or intestines, it’s called Aadhmana, and it can make your belly feel tight and uncomfortable. Often, this comes with constipation. This happens mainly because of an imbalance in the Vata Dosha.

The Pitta Dosha usually controls your digestion. But when it’s out of balance, your digestion gets weak, and that leads to gas. This gas is formed when your body can’t get rid of waste properly, and it makes the Vata Dosha worse.

Flatulence is when you have too much gas in your stomach and intestines, which can be really uncomfortable. The gas has things like hydrogen, methane, oxygen, and carbon dioxide in it.

Causes of Flatulence

Farting too much can happen if you eat foods that are hard for your body to digest. It can also be because of digestive issues like indigestion or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). According to Ayurveda, flatulence is linked to:

  • Heavy and Fatty Foods: Eating foods that are heavy and fatty, like junk food and fizzy drinks, can lead to flatulence. Eating too quickly can also mess with your digestion.
  • Digestive Problems: If your bowels aren’t working properly, it can cause flatulence. This can be due to issues like gallbladder disease, food allergies, peptic ulcers, or gallstones.
  • Stress and Emotions: Feeling stressed or other emotions like grief and anxiety can mess with your digestive system and lead to gas.
  • Sleep Troubles: If you’re not sleeping well or dealing with insomnia, it can disrupt how your digestive system works.
  • Inactive Lifestyle: Not being active can mess with your body’s metabolism and make you feel bloated.
  • Hormonal Changes: Women’s hormones can also lead to feeling bloated, especially during their periods, pregnancy, or menopause. These hormonal changes can affect how your digestive system works.

Symptoms of Flatulence

  • Heaviness in the Stomach: You might feel like your stomach is full, tight, and heavy.
  • Abdominal Pain: As gas accumulates, it can lead to abdominal pain.
  • Loss of Appetite: Feeling heavy in the stomach can make you not want to eat.
  • Bloating: When your stomach has too much gas, it can cause bloating, making your belly feel bigger.
  • Burping: You might burp more often due to the buildup of gas, and sometimes it can be loud and embarrassing.
  • Indigestion: Gas troubles can lead to indigestion, causing you to pass gas or fart more frequently.
  • Joint and Muscle Pain: Sometimes, gas can get trapped in joints, causing pain.
